Urethropexy is a surgical procedure used to fix or support the urethra (urethra). This procedure is often done to correct stress incontinence in women. Stress incontinence is a condition in which urine leaks during physical activity or pressure on the abdomen, such as coughing, sneezing, running or lifting heavy objects, due to weakening of the muscles and tissues supporting the bladder and urethra.

The urethropexy procedure may include:
- 1Anaesthesia: The patient is usually placed under general anaesthesia to keep her unconscious during the procedure.
- 2Access to the urethra: The surgeon creates access to the urethra through a small incision in the vaginal or pelvic tissue.
- 3Urethral support or fixation: the urethra can be fixed or supported using a variety of techniques and materials to prevent urine leakage during physical activity.
