Wrinkles on the face, sunken cheeks, narrow lips. These are just a few of the areas that we can rejuvenate with filler materials. And we don’t have to reach only for synthetic substances. We can use the body’s own fat. Try lipofilling – transplanting your own fat.
The principle of lipofilling is the transplantation of the body’s own living fat cells from one part of the body to another. The great advantage of this method is that it uses the body’s own fat, i.e. high quality material, free of foreign substances, which guarantees its easier acceptance by the body, without the occurrence of adverse reactions.
If we take fat from a part of the body, we disconnect it from its vascular supply, thus cutting off its supply of nutrients and oxygen. After the subsequent application of fat to another part of the body, it is necessary for the adipose tissue to re-establish its vascular supply, otherwise it would die. Therefore, it is necessary that the fat is injected with special needles in the form of small drops, which are able to secure nutrition from the surrounding tissue.
The application of own fat is mainly intended for the correction of soft tissues. The priority is the facial area. The basic premise of the method is that the soft tissues of the face not only loosen with age and gravity decreases (thus accentuating wrinkles around the mouth, forehead wrinkles, soft tissue decrease of the cheeks…), but at the same time the subcutaneous fat layer decreases, which further accentuates their decrease.
The tissue survives in the new location, thus its effect becomes long-lasting and outperforms the previously used temporary synthetically produced filling materials, which were absorbed after a few months.
The application of treated body fat will restore sagging areas of the face to their previous fullness. The final filler effect can be seen immediately after the swelling subsides and the new youthful facial contours can last for several years. Despite our best efforts to make the procedure as precise as possible, we cannot guarantee 100% survival of the transplanted fat cells. Survival of transplanted fat is reported in the literature to be between 20% and 50%. Some of the fat may be absorbed after the first application, so the procedure should be repeated after a period of time and the fat loss should be replenished. Sometimes, too, a patient can get by with one application for a lifetime.
The larger the area we want to treat, the more adipose tissue we will need. In case of a minor procedure, the procedure can be performed as an outpatient procedure under local anaesthesia with the patient fully conscious.
