Certainty and information from the mouth of an expert

  • 01.08.2021

At the outset, we would like to make it clear that all our articles are written in collaboration with experts in the field. This article was written with the active participation of MUDr. Ingrid Valaska, gynaecologist at the FRAIS Institute of Health and Beauty.

Nevertheless, all the information shared here is provided in a general sense and is intended to educate on the subject. Only a doctor who has the opportunity to examine and assess your health based on your medical history and other factors is the best person to talk to about your specific needs and requirements in any area, so always talk to them before making any decisions about your health.
A positive pregnancy test result is a dream come true for many women and for some a big surprise. Be that as it may, the discovery of pregnancy marks the beginning of a whole new and extraordinary era in a woman's life. The earliest signs of pregnancy are more like missed menstruation. They may also include morning sickness, sensitivity to smell and fatigue.

When do the symptoms start?

The first week of pregnancy is based on the date of your last menstrual period. Your last menstrual period is considered to be 1. week of pregnancy, even if you're not actually pregnant yet. The expected date of delivery is calculated using the first day of the last period. For this reason, the first few weeks of pregnancy, when you may not have any symptoms, are also counted towards the 40-week pregnancy.

TAGS TIME AXIS
mild cramps and spotting 1. - 4. Week

When do the symptoms start?

Some women are tempted to run to the doctor as soon as they get a positive pregnancy test or miss their periods for a few days. However, this is unnecessary, because by the fourth week, the doctor may not yet see much, at most the raised lining of the uterus, which is preparing for pregnancy. V 5. week of pregnancy, they may already see the gestational sac, or cavity, which confirms your pregnancy.

Pregnancy is also diagnosed by a blood test, which detects the level of hCG. The first visit to the gynaecologist, unless of course you need to know earlier because of holidays or other activities, is recommended at 6. to 8. week of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is always a new experience for every couple. It is important, and not only during this beautiful period, to seek information in the first place from professionals, in this case from a gynecologist. Our doctor has many years of experience with pregnant women, but also with the births themselves. Ultimately, it's a woman like you.
