However, onychomycosis is not only an aesthetic problem, but also a health problem. And clearly a specialist should be sought. Mould can quickly spread from one nail to the next. "Modern medicine can nowadays very effectively and permanently address nail mycosis, whether on the feet or hands. And this without the need to take antifungals, i.e. drugs to treat mycosis," says MUDr. Edita Kaiserová, dermatologist at the FRAIS Institute of Health and Beauty.
FOX laser may be the solution
In addition to the above-mentioned antifungals, the FOX laser is also an option, which FRAIS is one of the few clinics in Slovakia to have. Treatment is outpatient, almost painless and quick. One session lasts approximately thirty minutes, with the number of repetitions depending on the degree of nail damage. However, you will get rid of the mould forever. "The Fox laser is able to deliver laser radiation through the affected nail bed and into the biological tissue where the target pathogens are located. The laser beam destroys them very effectively, while also destroying any fungal and mycotic germs that could cause the disease again," explains Dr. Kaiser. It therefore kills fungi and moulds very effectively. After their destruction, a healthy nail already grows out.
You don't need any recovery time after the procedure and even in some cases it is possible to paint your nail the next day. It depends on the extent of the mold. A minimum of three to five treatments is recommended. Then you can expose the paws again.
