What is the Light of Hope and how does it work?
SVETIELKO HOPE is a civic association focused on improving and improving the quality of life of children and adolescents with cancer or other serious illnesses and their families. In addition, we strive to positively influence the public so that other people can be sensitive to the situation of these children and families and create an environment of understanding, acceptance and help for them.
What is the aid procedure in practice?
- Light of Hope helps families who are at the beginning of a difficult journey after their child's diagnosis.
- If hospitalization is necessary, the organization assists families with psychological support and help with administrative tasks related to long-term hospitalization.
- The Light of Hope organization also has its own therapeutic educator working directly at the pediatric oncology ward, who uses games and therapeutic techniques to help hospitalized children process negative emotions and mitigate the impact on the child's fine motor skills during difficult treatments.
- The basic treatment in the oncology ward is usually fully covered by the health insurance company. If doctors prescribe medication for children that is not covered by insurance, the Light of Hope reimburses for this treatment. It also contributes to the purchase of wigs.
- Last but not least, the association provides the possibility of transporting the child during treatment for various examinations. Since the child's immunity is significantly weakened during treatment, transport by ambulance would be risky.
- Light of Hope works with families when treatment is successful, even if it is unfortunately unsuccessful. In both situations, the organization is fully supportive of the families.
How does FRAIS help?
We, as the FRAIS Institute of Health and Beauty, regularly contribute financially to help provide transport for children to or from hospitals, their transport to rehabilitation or for further examinations. This month, thanks to these funds, the Light of Hope transport service was able to transport pediatric patients for necessary medical care and travelled a total of 1550km.
You can help too!
