This aesthetic surgery reduces enlarged, feminine-looking breasts in men. We use liposuction for this, possibly in combination with surgical removal of excess glandular tissue.
Gynecomastia, the swelling of the male mammary glands, can be a manifestation of normal physiological development at certain periods of life, but also a manifestation of a disease. It appears in newborns, as a result of increased levels of estrogens, which the newborn has acquired through the placenta from the mother. Furthermore, the male mammary gland transiently enlarges during puberty and in older age, when gynecomastia is probably due to increased conversion of androgens to estrogens in the tissues.
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia. A very pleasant novelty for our clients is the use of the latest procedures and preparations in general anaesthesia, thanks to which we allow patients to leave with an escort for home care within 2-3 hours after the end of the operation. In some cases, a 1-day hospitalization in our facility may be recommended.
The patient can return to work after 7 days. She wears elastic underwear for 6 weeks. More strenuous activity is possible after 2-3 weeks.
After surgery, temporary hematomas, swelling, numbness, soreness, and burning sensations may occur. The results of the operation are long-term. However, significant weight gain can cause the breast area to enlarge again.
At the FRAIS Institute of Health and Beauty we offer the possibility to pay for plastic surgery procedures in instalments. Contact us for more info.
