Explore the method of using your own fat as a filler material to sculpt and add volume to specific areas of your body.
If you have more volume on your thighs or hips than you’d like, but nature hasn’t given you as much volume elsewhere, try our new Lipografting. It is a safe method of transferring your own fat from one place to another, where it acts as a filler material in order to correct, sculpt or add the necessary volume. It can be used on different parts of the body and is a permanent solution.
It is a minimally invasive procedure, where local anaesthesia is usually sufficient. The fat is preferably taken from the abdomen or hips, or from the back, i.e. from where there is enough fat for the desired action. It is taken using a cannula with a diameter of at least 3 mm to prevent the fat cells from being degraded. These are then sedimented, homogenised and applied to the required site. The length of the procedure depends on the extent.
The own fat as a filling material is very suitable for breast augmentation, buttock modeling, volumization of the labia majora. To a lesser extent, it is also used for rejuvenation of the facial skin, for example before blepharoplasty, filling of the cheeks, the angle of the temples, lip augmentation, rejuvenation and tightening of the neck or the backs of the hands, correction of post-traumatic depressions such as scars or sunken areas, correction of various other asymmetries, correction of the volume of the legs and so on.
The undeniable advantage of lipografting is the minimal risk of allergic reactions, since it is your own fat.
Another advantage is that the fat graft stem cells, when in contact with skin cells, start a cascade of rejuvenation processes where the formation of connective tissue is stimulated, resulting in tightening and rejuvenation of the skin. At the same time, it has another advantage as a filler material, also compared to the popular hyaluronic acid – although part of the fat is absorbed by the body, the remaining volume after attachment to the site remains and changes only in case of changes in your weight – if you gain weight, the fat graft gets bigger, if you lose weight, it also gets smaller. The fat is absorbed for the first 6-8 weeks after application, and the absorption range is 30-70%. The required volume is topped up as required.
Postoperative recovery takes 24 to 48 hours, by which time any swelling should have disappeared. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for the fat graft to take hold. It is necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions for a given period of time, for example, after the procedure is completed, it is advisable to wear an elastic compression bandage or mask on the site and to avoid external point pressure. The risk is that the fat graph could move to a different location under pressure, causing asymmetry, or it could fail to adhere and die, and the process would have to be repeated.
