Cervical polyp may be the source of irregular bleeding or it may be an incidental finding during a preventive examination. Depending on the location of the polyp, polyp removal can be performed in isolation, but is most often part of a hysteroscopy.

The course of surgery, recovery:
- 1The procedure is performed under general intravenous anaesthesia and takes very little time
- 2After disinfection, the polyp is captured, removed with a twisting motion and sent for histological examination
- 3The procedure can also be performed on pregnant women
- 4After the procedure it is not necessary to observe a special resting regime, blood loss is usually minimal. The result of the histological examination is available in 14 days at the earliest. The patient is not incapacitated after the procedure
